I Had to Burn (Amor Rojo, Part III) is the third and last part of the 2018-2022 film and publication project Amor Rojo.
This third part focuses on the years Marxist feminist, sexual activist, revolutionary and diplomat Alexandra Kollontai spent in Mexico in 1926-1927, her impact on the already existing Mexican feminist movement (and how this impact appears still today in new Mexican transfeminisms); her influence on new female artists and revolutionaries such as Tina Modotti and Concha Michel; and the stimulus she exerced on the Mexican avantgarde with her promotion of Soviet cinema. This third part will be constructed from the research in specific archives in Moscow and Mexico, interviews, and a short fiction episode to be shot in Mexico.
