Norwegian-Russian Cooperation on estimating the cost structure of the Northeast Arctic cod fishery in the Barents Sea

The beneficial management of the Northeast Arctic cod stock needs to take the productivity and costs of both the Norwegian and the Russian fishing fleets into account. In order to achieve this, Russian data must be collected,analyzed and be made commensurable with data on the Norwegian cod fishing fleet.We therefore wish to organize a workshop that brings together Russian and Norwegian researchers from various fields with a common interest in the management of Barents Sea cod fisheries. This will establish what data sources are available, what data can be gathered and how the data can be shared between Russian and Norwegian researchers. If the workshop yields positive results in that the likelihood of a successful collection of Russian data is perceived as high, workshop participants will develop further detailed project proposals.
