Tittel

Contemporary Art and Visual Culture in Education (CAVIC)

Sammendrag

The CAVIC network brings together Nordic and Baltic researchers and PhD-students who deal with the most central questions in contemporary visual education from the perspectives of curriculum studies, educational anthropology, philosophy of the arts, cultural studies, aesthetic education and art appreciation. In this way small but well established Nordic research environments such as SAE in Helsinki (FI) and the research units at the universities of Jyvaskyla (FI), Aarhus (DK), Oslo (N), Telemark (N), Stockholm (S) and Umeaa (S) finally will have a common forum for exchange together with colleagues who work e.g. in Åbo (FI), Agder (N), Halmstad (S), Akureyri (IS) and Siauliai (LT), or from cultural institutions such as the National Gallery (DK) or the Latvian and Estonian Art Academies. Two central aims of the network to be achieved before 2012 are to realize a joint Nordic and Baltic PhD program in visual education and to develop a joint EU FP7 application for a collaborative project together with invited partners from other European countries such as Germany, Spain, Italy and Slovenia.
