Tittel

Contemporary Art Didactics: Applied Aesthetics and Sensuous Knowledge (2012-14)

Sammendrag

Contemporary Art Didactics is a research project and network funded by the Oslo and Akershus University College. The aim of the project is to study and establish different relations between aesthetics and society – be it in applied art and theatre projects, in participatory design strategies or in the development of didactic and relational aesthetic theory. The non-autonomous character of art lays as a starting point, however combined with a belief in the concrete and alternative power of aesthetic strategies and sensuous knowledge. The project unites artists, didactics and theorists, showing the mutual dependence of theory and practice, and has a cross-disciplinary character with contributions from aesthetic subjects such as theatre, performance, visual arts, product and service design, visual culture, art didactics and urban planning. As our research outcome we plan to publish a compilation of scientific articles in a thematic issue of In Formation – Nordic Journal of Art and Research in the fall of 2013.
