Sammendrag
Aim: To study organisational and professional interpretations of Community
Based Rehabilitation (CBR) in Tanzania and Sudan. This is important in light
of UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (2006) and the need
for disability research relevant to Southern contexts. Specific applications
of CBR are studied in both countries. The way some rehabilitation services are
given priority, and which groups get access to which health services is
discussed. Professional roles within CBR are examined, such as training
community rehabilitation volunteers. Physiotherapists are focused upon.
Methodology: qualitative, comparative approach through literature and document
study and interviews of key-informants in each country. Results: Knowledge
relevant to North-South educational collaboration, and to user- and context
appropriate rehabilitation.
