Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag

Moyo, the Laerdal Fetal Heart Rate Monitor, is a relatively new, low cost, simple-to-use and robust technological tool, specially developed for use in low-resource countries to detect fetal distress and there is a need to find out if the new monitor will improve the quality of care during the childbirth. In our research application, that has been sent to the Norwegian research Council (NRC) 2018, our plan is to count and investigate stillbirths and neonatal deaths and to improve quality care during labor through introducing fetal heart rate monitoring in Bihar, India. However, there is a need for a feasibility study, to be able to 1. identify problems areas, needs and suggestions for changes required in the larger study, 2. gain knowledge of the training time needed, data collection challenges and the number of Moyos needed and 3. assess the effect of the Moyo intervention on perinatal health outcomes in Bihar (on a smaller scale than the main study and with different study design).
