In the BiodivERsA project IMAGINE, six partners from five countries work together at a multidisciplinary level and combine disciplines such as landscape ecology, restoration ecology, sociology, land planning and geospatial modelling. The project investigates green infrastructure, such as ecological corridors and semi-natural areas, in urban and rural areas throughout Europe. One of six case study regions is Trondheim municipality, where we in collaboration with relevant users will assess which functions green infrastructure can have given their capability in delivering these at an ecosystem level. There will be put specific focus on how green infrastructure provide positive, but also negative, (dis)services to society. All study regions have a rural-urban gradient and work in close collaboration with a diversity of stakeholders (i.e. land managers, municipalities, contractors in planning, design and building activities, nature conservation organizations, NGOs and the wider public). IMAGINE aims to solve problems linked with green infrastructure planning, design and management in interaction with regional and local stakeholders and will transfer its knowledge and methods within the EU. In addition will IMAGINE propose an integrative analysis of the multi-functionality and services provided by green infrastructure and address sustainability and resilience issues. This will be done by developing participatory and spatially explicit tools to assess these aspects holistically to aid in decision-making and planning processes.
