Tittel

Polyphonic monologue as artistic research - with the example: "A Bubbling Passion, a Crazy Admiration"

Sammendrag

Polyphonic monologue is an artistic research-based module for master students in drama and in music at Bergen University College. The article presents the structure and premises of the working process in this module. The polyphonic monologue is based on the work or theories of a philosopher, a theorist or an artist. A description of a selected production, based on Virginia Woolf's novels and essays, then follows - thereafter the first analysis of the production. A central question is: In which ways are the material and the understanding of the pre-texts transformed into a performance, through form and/or content?
