Sammendrag
In order to maintain a sustainable fishery industry, it is important to develop means of breaking down residual biomass using efficient enzymes; in this case proteases. The main goal for this project has been to compare 4 such industrially applied, thermophile homologues of the protease subtilisin (65-99% sequence identity), originating from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (S1), Bacilluslichenformis (S2 and Alc) and Bacillus subtilis (S3). Expressing the homologues as recombinant products in E.coli and measuring the activity of the proteases in the FITC-casein protease assay, it was possible to investigate the robustness of the assay.
