The next step towards the  realization of  the future Subsea Power SupplyThe present report refers to open (published) results from two competence building projects (KMB)  accomplished at SINTEF in 2011,  financed  by the Research Council of Norway (RCN)  PETROMAKS program and industry partners. The two projects are:- ""Feasible power electronics for demanding subsea applications""- ""Electric power systems for subsea processing and transportation of oil and gas""Based on the experience from the research on pressure tolerant power electronics the report looks into new possibilities and challenges when this technology is pushed to higher power and voltage levels. Based on the state of the art for high power switching devices (e.g. IGBT) and well known converter topologies for achieving the required higher voltage and power levels, the report gives proposals for how the experience from the two KMB projects can be exploited for assisting the industry on development of pressure tolerant medium power converters and for the development of new subsea power system concepts.  The report also summarizes some specific project ideas which are proposed to be to be assessed by numerical simulations as the first step. These ideas have emerged as part of an internal SINTEF project activity and then they have been presented in meetings with several industry companies during 2011. Especially on converter reliability problems the report also refers to the on-going SINTEF KMB Project: ""Power Electronics for Reliable and Energy Efficient Renewable Energy"".
