Tittel

Optimizing the identification of new proteases on industry-relevant substrates.

Sammendrag

Functional screening for proteases suffers from several limitations, not only at the transcriptional and translational levels, but also on the level of activity screening. A major concern is that activity assays for the identification of protein hydrolyzing activities often include industry-irrelevant substrates. In the NorZymeD (RCN, BIOTEK2021) and INMARE (EU, Horizon 2020) projects, we are overcoming the shortage in functional screening of proteases by establishing liquid-based activity assays using industry-relevant substrates. This includes substrates relevant to the marine ingredients industry, such as salmon proteins. The liquid-based assays using these substrates have successfully been applied in functional screening for proteases.
