The CLICK - Carceral spaces for young people

The paper introduces a new prison space, the so called "the Youth Unit" in Norway for children between 15 and 18 year olds. The unit is a space created by adults for children. It is an intentioned space created within control and care discourses (Foucault 1980), expressing values and forces making it possible to STOP and reflect and hopefully choose another path in life. The materiality is not just a frame for interaction, but a central part of it; what Deleuze (1987) refers to as "body without organs". Keys, talk, closed doors, bodies, forces, wills, affections and law becomes one. The forces in the space can make the room bigger or smaller, more or less controlled and mix care and control in various ways. The "right" embodiment here forces a particular bodywork. In the paper I try to write foreword how young people are affected (Deleuze 1987) by space and by forces in the rooms. Inspired by the deleuzian concepts "body without organs" and "the process of becoming" I discuss what the prison architecture breathe into young people' process of becoming.
