Tittel

Surface analysis of water bodies in permafrost environment (Siberia, Russia) using optical satellite data between 1965 and 2014. (14/2014)

Sammendrag

The report presents the results of the research performed as part of the Work Package 4 “Optical data” of the PermaSAT project “Satellites for detection of permafrost landscape changes in Artic regions”. Its objective is to illustrate the potential of optical satellite remote sensing to map the surfaces changes of water bodies in permafrost environment. This was done for 3 areas in Churapcha and Myuryu, Central Yakutia (Siberia, Russia) using sets of High Resolution images from the Corona KH-4 sensor in the 1960s and from the GeoEye satellite between 2009 and 2014, as well as extra Landsat images in order to improve the time series. Some qualitiatives comparisons for 3 additional areas are be also performed.
