Sammendrag
Biogas is a clean and renewable energy source mostly used for Combined Heat & Power. Upgrading it to biomethane increases its calorific value by removing CO2 and other impurities. Biomethane’s primary applications are as transportation fuel, or to a lower extent, as a chemical feedstock. However, due to the significant increase in biomethane production in the EU in the last decade, its conversion to green hydrogen via the reforming process is gaining increasing interest for use as an energy carrier in transportation or stationary applications in high-efficiency fuel cells, or as a valuable bio-based chemical. In this work, we studied the use of the emerging Sorption-Enhanced Reforming technology (SER) as an interesting alternative to produce green hydrogen and bio-CO2 from biogas.
