Sammendrag

"Where is Cinema" (2019, Archive Books) by Belgian artist and filmmaker Anouk De Clercq is a collection of portraits of a selection of independent cinemas and film initiatives from around the world. The book looks at the opportunities and challenges in trying to build a culture and a social space centered around film as an art form. The initiatives portrayed are established in different contexts, in a time where film and moving images are mostly viewed on private screens and where on the other hand bigger franchises and multiplexes are dominating. Kunstnernes Hus Kino is represented in the book through interviews with architect Thomas Liu (Atelier Oslo) and Head of Kunstnernes Hus Kino Silja Espolin Johnson. Panelists: Anouk De Clercq (artist and film maker) Mia Ferm (Cinema Project, Portland) Silja Espolin Johnson (Kunstnernes Hus Kino) Moderator: Mike Sperlinger (film curator and writer)
