Open Science initiatives at a university library - a personal account from UiT The Arctic University of Norway

Sammendrag

Pippin Aspaas holds a PhD in history of science and is an active researcher within fields such as Latin philology and early-modern intellectual history. He has been working at the University Library of University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) since 2009. Since 2017, he is head of a group of about a dozen people within the university library focusing on research and publishing support. UiT has been an early implementer of open science policies in Norway and now runs several peer-reviewed journals, a national system for open-access research data, and an institutional repository for green open access documents (theses, research papers, reports). In his talk, Aspaas will present these and other open science initiatives at the university library and reflect upon how several pilot projects have gradually been implemented as part of the official policy of the institution as a whole. Alongside technical services and institutional policies, the library has also launched several dissemination initiatives, such as Open Science Talk, an English-language podcast providing insight into open science projects in Norway and the wider world.
