Sammendrag

My research is related to molecular nutrition and health, ranging from population-based studies to molecular biology. We apply modern "omics" technologies in our studies including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, pathway analyses and biostatitics, ending up with systems biology. My research group is involved in studies of fatty acids related to energy metabolism, obesity, cachexia, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, cancer and perinatal development. Our focus is on transport, metabolism and biological effects of fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins, with special emphasis on interactions between nutrients and genes. We have also study release of signal molecules from adipose (adipokines) and skeletal muscle tissue (myokines)because both these organs are essential for health status.
