Real world learning in business education

Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag

The project “Real-world learning in business education” gives the opportunity to students at Nord University Business School to connect affective and cognitive learning through project-based internship learning. The project will be integrated in one course, as part of the M.Sc. in Business (7,5 credits). During the internship students will develop competences in complex problem analysis, academic writing and intercultural business communication. The course adopts a project-oriented problem-based approach, where students will work with a problem defined by the hosting organization. This pedagogy enhances students’ knowledge ownership while contributing to the hosting organization strategic management decision.

The project will rely in activities as network and routing enhancement for international internships in South Africa, mobility of students and collaborative research within the topic of pedagogy and professional practice. This project strengthens the M.Sc. in Business at Nord University Business School, as it will increase the number of students who take an international internship during their studies. The project thus complements an ongoing InternAbroad project which initiated the institutional routines to offer national and international routines to undergraduate and graduate students.

The project partners in South Africa is the University of Pretoria. The Graduate School of Technology Management will facilitate the introductory lectures for intern students, while companies at the technological incubator Tuksnovation will host the students.
