The book combines documentation of the research and outcomes of the 2019 & 2021 editions of the Göteborg International Biennial of Contemporary Art curated by Lisa Rosendahl with a theoretical section with texts by and interviews with international curators and artists focussing on biennials as sites of historical narration. It explores how the biennial form can contribute to a situated, polyvocal and transnationally entangled narration of history different to historical museums and heritage sites. The book aims to be a substantial contribution to the field of Exhibition Studies.
