This conference aims to speak about gestures from an expanded, political point of view: how do we address the art historical language of gesture that underpins how we understand surfaces, such as flatbed, model,seriality, etc. I propose to bring a hybrid, both in-person and online international group of artists, curators and critics together and to reach out to ask if this could be in partnership with the Astrup Fearnley Museet. An alternative is to organize this at Irma Salo Jægers studio, where we are planning an extension of the cross-departmental initiative Color Lab, which I started. In addition to material experiments, they are willing to host symposia and talks.
