We recognize quantum computing's potential in addressing discrete optimization challenges in the defence sector. This project aims to explore various use cases where quantum computing can be applied, considering that the objectives within the defence sector differ from those in the industrial domain, requiring additional research. The synergy between NeQst and this project lies in the shared methods and technical aspects, offering mutual benefits. Following an agile approach, suggested use cases are assessed for relevance by FFI and suitability for quantum algorithms by SINTEF. Through iterative rounds, use cases that do not meet the criteria are discarded, and new ones are added for evaluation until a few strong candidates remain, which undergo in-depth analysis. The main goal is to explore the potential of quantum computing for the defence sector, focusing on high impact optimization problems suggested by FFI.
