Effects of oil on pelagic ecosystems

This is a joint effort between Institute of Marine Research (Bergen), the ARCTOS network (Akvaplan-niva and others) and CEES. The main objectiveof the project is to significantly improve our understanding of the functioning of the Barents Sea ecosystem and how it is affected by variability in ocean climate and circulation. Such understanding, combined with knowledge of trophic relations and functions, is crucial to interpret and understand variability and possible changes of biological production and biodiversity over time induced by natural and/or man-made stressors. The projecct focuses on analysis and modelling of Calanus spp., further development of fish multispecies models, and digitalization of historical Russian biological data.
