Sammendrag

Within this cognition the variety of theatre and performing arts forms will be used, such as big outdoor performances, street productions, concerts and indoor spectacles, as well as various workshops and meetings directed to theater artists, set-designers, actors, musicians, visual art artists and theater directors. We will also make use of a dragon symbol as a common component either of Norwegian or of Polish culture. The dragons presented in Polish and Norwegian legends can also epitomize elements of nature itself. Our cooperation will consist of: co-production of artistic events and their presentation either in Poland or Norway. We will organize the various educational activities for young artists. They will meet in intercultural space of creation and exchange their artistic and cultural experiences, search together for an inspiration in Polish and Norwegian culture. We will ask experts for an artistic and cultural consultancy which will help us to keep our project on the highest possible level.

Vitenskapelig sammendrag

The leitmotiv of the whole project consisting of the numerous artistic events are the elements. Air, fire, water, earth – have always been our natural environment. However, nowadays more than by elements of nature, humankind is surrounded by the elements of the culture – the typical and distinguish work of mankind. We hope to experience together with all the partners and beneficiaries the fascinating journey to the roots of culture elements. The process while elements of nature had been becoming the base of our human world – the world of culture must be very intriguing.

We are going to set out the time travel which will allow us to get to know the beginnings of Norwegian and Polish struggle for creation of culture elements. We would like to get to know the roots of both cultures, their myths and legends, and compare its crossing points. Searching for the historical and cultural beginning can lead us to better understanding of each other.

Metode

"Sigurd fighting the dragon" was one of the projects in this rather big co-operation between Teatr Groteska and Kulturproduksjoner. "Sigurd fighting the Dragon" was a street-performance without words, created by Polish and Norwegian artists. In Poland the set design and costumes was made by students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, the work was led by professor Malgorzata Komarowski. In Norway students from HiO participated in creating the costumes and set design for the performance, this work was led by scenographer Einar Dahl. Together with young polish actors, students from the course in Puppet theatre at HiO, participated as actors in the performance. The performance was rehearsed in Krakow in May/June 2010, and played in both Krakow and Oslo.
