Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag

Vitenskapelig sammendrag

NOKUT has commissioned a literature review to examine the importance of academic environment for the quality of education in higher education. The background for this is the use of (the characteristics of the) academic environment as an indicator for quality of education, which can be found in a range of various criteria and guidelines.

To examine the research evidence in the area, the call identified three research questions:
• RQ1: What does the research literature say about the relationship between the characteristics of the academic environment (for instance size and quality) and the quality of the education offered?
• RQ2: What does the research literature say about similarities and differences between disciplines and types of study programmes (theory-oriented, practice-oriented and artistic programmes) in terms of the characteristics of the academic environment and the quality of the education?
• RQ3: To which extent are the relevant requirements in NOKUT’s academic supervisions regulations research-based?

Metode

The project is composed of two main parts, a review that is informed by a systematic review approach for searching and systematizing literature, and an analysis of existing regulative framework in this area that takes a point of departure in the findings of the review.
