Sammendrag
During the last 6 years Northern Research Institute (Norut) have been developing the CryoWing UAS system and utilizing it in numerous scientific measurement campaigns. As the name reflects, the CryoWing was initially developed for cryospheric measurements. However, the platforms versatility and flexibility for adapting various instruments in its payload makes the CryoWing a suitable platform for any airborne measurements, including atmospheric measurements.
Norut has conducted numerous scientific measurements with the CryoWing UAS, both in Norway, Svalbard, Greenland and Antarctica. Data and results from these campaigns will be presented, and an introduction to how the system is operated in the field will be given.
In this presentation we will give an overview of the CryoWing system. We will look at its specifications, its performance and talk about future plans for the development. We will present current and planned payloads and sensors, and discuss the possibility for cooperation with new sensor deveolpers.
The CryoWing system was designed to consist of off-the-shelf hardware, where possible. Though, some components are developed in house. As the system is now reaching maturity, we foresee involving other users of the system. We will discuss how other institutes can get access to the CryoWing system, and participate in the development.
