Sammendrag
Professor Min Dongchao has together with Zhu Shanjie translated the book Making it in China (在中国制造) to Chinese and the book has now been published in China. The book is edited by Merete Lie, Ragnhild Lund and Gard H. Hansen, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)and was originally published by Høyskoleforlaget/Norwegian Academic Press in 2008.
Book Description:
Making it in China addresses the rapid influx of foreign-owned enterprises in China, focusing on the experiences of and with Norwegian companies, as perceived by both Chinese and Norwegian scholars and commentators. Based on recent empirical studies the contributions focus on China’s development, on the foreign enterprises and changes in Chinese people’s lives. The aim of the book is to enhance the readers’ understanding of the complexities, challenges and achievements of the rapid influx of foreign investments in China. Chinese and Norwegian scholars alike argue that there is a need to go beyond the much communicated stereotypes and rather try to understand the deep-rooted contrasts and complexities embedded in the Chinese culture. The book provides fresh insights into variable dynamics and forces at play in this regard. Richly illustrated by maps, photos and interviews with major players in the industrial field, and with short comments from ordinary people, it will be of interest to students, to industrialists and to people with a general interest in China and foreign industrialisation.
