Towards a cognitive ethnography of marine science: the case of sea lice research

Sammendrag

This talk will give a brief introduction to challenges in my ongoing cognitive ethnography on distributed cognition among a group of marine biologists in a high-tech research facility in Norway. The sea lice L. salmonis is a major challenge for salmon farming. My interlocutors are unlocking the secrets of this ectoparasite by turning it into a novel model organism and model experimental system for investigations in applied molecular parasitology.
