Sammendrag

The Colonization of Scandinavian Seascapes in the Pleistocene/Holocene Transition Upcoming talk, different date than usual! Our monthly lecture will be a few days delayed this week. Thursday, 7:30 same time and place (UVic’s Cornett Building B129 @ 7:30). Hein B. Bjerck, Professor in Archaeology at Norwegian University of Science and Technology will be giving a lecture on “The Colonization of Scandinavian Seascapes in the Pleistocene/Holocene Transition”. Hein is Project leader, “Marine Ventures – Comparative perspectives on the dynamics of early human approaches to the seascapes of Tierra del Fuego and Norway”, Research interests: Pleistocene/Holocene transition, Maritime adaptation and seascapes, Material culture studies and Contemporary Archaeology, Dynamics and structural relations in cultural development of hunter-gatherer societies, Comparative studies, Patagonia, Arctic. It is a minimal description but should be a fascinating talk and very applicable to sea level and paleo-environmental research taking place on our central coast. Check out the website! Hope to have a big turn out before a lot of you head out into the field.
