When performing large scale measurements, one of the most important features of the measurement and analysis system will be to get as much valuable results from the system as possible with as little efforts and manual work (man-hours) as possible. This means that a large scale measurement and analysis system to a large extent should be automated and should contain as much power quality information as possible for disturbance recognition, for use with reports etc. This document reports the state of the art for power quality measurement chain from the measurement transducers/transformers, to the finished power quality reports and in the future possibly also network operating (switching) recommendations. Each stage of the measurement chain is important in assuring accurate measurement data and minimizing data loss. Accurate measurement data with little data loss is crucial for a measurement system to be trusted for statistical and research purposes, contractual purposes and for compliance testing towards international standards and/or national regulations. The measurement transducers/transformers and the measurement instruments are the most important elements for ensuring data accuracy while the instruments, the communication link and the software are the most important elements to minimize data loss.
