Sammendrag
The purpose is to present a new study program for the Nordic countries. The study program is mainly web-based, and thus provides opportunities for occupationally active and others to develop competence without being constrained to a campus.
There is an urgent need for the skills and knowledge that students can acquire through this Master’s Degree. MRI radiographers are required to ensure optimal images for diagnostics and warrant the patient’s safety. Clinical MRI scanners are major investments with a great diagnostic value, provided proper utilization. Furthermore, clinics tailor the examination protocols to ensure accurate diagnoses and time-effective use of the equipment. The diagnostic quality of an MRI scan however is affected by numerous factors. A comprehensive understanding of options and trade-offs in image optimization reduces the risk of low quality images and excessively long examination times. Expertise is required for the best use of MRI technology, ensured by well-trained staff with solid competence in this area. This also requires knowledge in and understanding for research methods and ethics, beyond schooling in Bachelor’s Degree.
We will present content, structure, teaching methods, learning outcomes and relevance to the labor market for The Master’s Degree in Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging study Program. Additionally, we will share our experience and student evaluations from the well-established study program “prolonged education in MRI” (ViMR established in 2003), which is also mainly web-based and an integrated part of the Master’s Degree study program.
