Virtual More is a research project to investigate how to utilize visualization and simulation methods as a planning tool for research and teaching in a 3D virtual world. The project was developed in a bottom up process for integration of 3D terrain models and simulation models. Virtual More became an arena for testing the models including shipping, fish farming and energy production. The most important result of the project was the recognition that simulation with location related individual-based models, will lead to simulation of complex systems. Complex systems introduces a new generation of simulation methods. It is perhaps here the relationship between a visual presentation, swarming agents and artificial intelligence we will see its future benefits as a research tool.
