Transition processes to adulthood for young parents in contact with child welfare

The purpose of this paper is to explore the transition experiences of young parents in contact with child welfare. The analysis – using discourse analysis – is focusing on parents’ challenges, choices and access to support in their transition processes from early adolescence to young adulthood. In the discussion of results, theories on transition processes and the construct of “emerging adulthood” will be of central interest as well as theories on transition processes of marginalized groups. The paper is based on anonymized qualitative life course interviews with the parents.
