Sammendrag
The final chapter systematises the empirical findings of the case studies presented in the policy chapters and provides a systematic integration of these findings into governance theory. It offers an overview of the policy-related differences and of similarities shaping the modes of governance observed in today’s Russia. As all but one chapter of this book compare the same policy issue in various sub-federal entities, the final chapter is also able to explain inter-regional variance which cannot be traced back to the characteristics of any specific policy. Moreover, the analysis maps different types and functions of governance networks found in the single policy chapters. Finally, a fresh view of governance theory is provided since the findings allow for further theorising on governance in an increasingly authoritarian regime. Therefore, the chapter can also be read as a contribution to research on regime hybridity and ‘new’ authoritarianism.
