Sammendrag
This presentation summed up the findings from the Norms project in terms of teacher assessment and the development of assessment quality among teachers involved in the project intervention. The presentation focused on a set of findings implying a call for methodological triangulation when investigating assessment in an Assessment for learning context:
A reliability estimate will not alone capture all relevant aspects in low stakes AfL contexts:
-Ways of understanding writing
-Ways of understanding and using scales (e.g. as checklists or heuristics)
-Increased teacher confidence
-Constructing targeted writing prompts
Conclusion: the NORMs project tools were not sufficient for establishing acceptable inter rater reliability. Still, they
did contribute to a change in rating behavior, and – as such – a better practice. Accordingly, triangulation is needed in low stakes contexts such as AfL approaches.
