To dance on the beat: Changing norms in metrical dance-music relationship

Sammendrag

Summary of a conference paper. The term "metrical dance-music relationship" is used to refer to repeated movement patterns corresponding to pulses or pulse groups in the accompanying music. The phenomenon is fundamental to the interaction between dancers and musicians in performance, but based in local norms subject to wide regional and chronological variation, as demonstrated by examples from the Scandinavian countries.(author)
