Pacific Resolution of Conflicts: Educational Perspectives

The paper is entitled Pacific Resolution of Conflicts: Educational Perspectives. It discusses the relationship between peace education and the pacific resolution of conflicts. It is asserted that conflict resolution and peace education needs integration as they are not isolated and distinct fields from each other. Both need consientization about oftentimes latent and hidden individual dispositions and oftentimes latent and hiden contradictions. Conscientization is discussed as praxis in which both individual dispositions and structural contradictions may be transformed towards the ideal of pacific resolution of conflicts. It is argued that this praxis will be especially powerful when combining the transformation of structural conditions with individual dispositions recognizing the force, according to Bourdieu, present in the principle that the two seek towards harmoný.
