Snow and ice blocking of tunnels

Based on field observations, the problems of ice and snow accumulations in components of several hydropower conveyance systems are analyzed. Althou many of the operational disturbances can be avoided by better routines, some of the physical phenomena involved are quite intriguing, and improved designs are suggesting themselves once the physics is properly under stood.
