Improved interception of combined sewage in the Trondheim-Høvringen wastewater system

This paper describes some results of an integrated model development and its application to the Høvringen wastewater system in Trondheim/Norway. Ma model development needs concernthe integration of transport and treatment simulation, the interfacing with existing data bases, inclusion of snowmelt, and the possibility to simulate processes that are controlled in real time. The developed integrated model is currently being used to design the treatment plant as well as to determine static and dynamic measures in, both, the catchment and the sewer system, such as extended pumping, adjustment of overflows, separation of storm water runoff from "non-effective separate systems", retention and real time control of the sewer tu nnel volume.
