Statistical properties of successive wave periods

A parametric model of the joint distribution of successive wave periods obtained as best fit to observed data is presented. The wave data were obta from measurements at the Frigg field, central North Sea in 100 m water depth including more than 3 million individual waves. It appears that the parametric model gives a good representation of the main statistical p roperties of the measured data.
