Participatory design of digital interventions in mental health care

In this talk I will address some of the challenges of designing digital interventions in mental health care. As part of the interdisciplinary INTROMAT research project we are exploring how we can include new interactional modalities and exploit the potential of emerging technologies when designing such interventions. This includes exploring how to use tangible interaction for emotion regulation, how to design virtual reality scenarios for exposure therapy, using pervasive sensing to initiate training exercises, and exploring how conversational interfaces can be used to guide online peer-support sessions. Another challenge that will be addressed is how to meaningfully engage future users and health professionals in the participatory design of mental health care.
