Tittel

Descartes and the origins of baroque moral philosophy

Sammendrag

Descartes (1596-1650) did not have a moral theory. He never writes a ”Traité de la Morale”, rather, he establishes as a fact that a real moral treaty should be based on perfect knowledge of the world. In addition; Descartes is reckoned to be the direct opposite of all idea of baroque, with his focus on clarity and simplicity. Furthermore, in time he is a very late figure, and therefore should be impossible to place as the originator of any movement of thought related to the term baroque.
