Deformations of Støvset Bridge, Measurement and Analysis

Sammendrag

Støvset Bridge is a segmentally cast concrete cantilever bridge on the northern coast of Norway. 146 meter of the 220 meter long central span was made from lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC). Due to the long and slender superstructure deformations are considerably large which must be taken into account with the most realistic and accurate analysis possible. That results in a very complex problem with many influencing factors involved. Using lightweight aggregate concrete adds further difficulties as practical experience with creep of LWAC is limited and even if creep models in design codes are extended in order to cover lightweight aggregate concrete they require further refinements. Deformations of Støvset Bridge have been monitored since its construction in 1993 and so far we have a database on measurements covering a 6 year long period of time. An advanced finite element analysis was carried out and calculated deformations showed fairly good agreement with measurements. Results of various creep tests on LWAC are also discussed in this paper.
