A Model-based Methodology for Extended Enterprise Engineering

Sammendrag

This paper describes an enterprise model-based methodology for Extended Enterprise Engineering. The aim of the model-based methodology is to provide industrial practitioners guidelines and an operational environment for Extended Enterprise Engineering. The enterprise modelling capabilities enable the extension of the methodology from that of a guideline to a knowledge repository. The basic approach is process-oriented, where the activities that take place during the lifecycle are modelled. The methodology not only identifies the inputs, constraints, resources and the outputs for each activity, but it also provides access to them. Thus, the methodology model plays the role of an extended enterpriseknowledge management platform as well as helps industrial practitioners to set up the technical and the organisational infrastructure that is central to an Extended Enterprise. The uniqueness of the methodology is achieved through graphical representation and by providing access to information and to other resources in a distributed working environment.
