Coordinated education on energy efficiency at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology

This paper presents Norwegian approach to a comprehensive program for education in the field of energy efficiency. The world of today is facing the great challenge of cutting our global demands for energy and reducing the environmental strain caused by use of energy. Providing a comprehensive knowledge on efficient use of energy to the students of today we will insure a safer future for coming generations. To be able to achieve increased efficiency of energy systems it is necessary to take in account all particular aspects of the energy chain: generation, distribution and end use considering also environmental impacts. A real multidisciplinary approach to energy efficiency is a vital importance for obtaining of good solutions here. The presented approach is based upon a real collaboration between many different experts and faculties. It contains both programs for education on master degree level and for continuous education of professionals. Some educational tools developed for the subject are also presented.
