Development of Perception and Action

During the first year of life, the links between perception and action undergo dramatic change. Understanding how these changes come about during development is the purpose of this symposium. Firmly rooted in contemporary theoretical models, a wide spec trum of perceptuo-motor skills and their development will be discussed. These include the visually elicited blinking response, reaching for objects in the dark, and the development of balance control and locomotion. Understanding the undelying processes of the coupling between perception and action in infancy will give important insights in both normal and abnormal development.
