Tittel

Facilitating and understanding emergent strategies of realtime learning through the democratisation of knowledge

Sammendrag

The topic of this presentation is the need to bridge the knowledge and action gaps between researchers and practitioners in relation to reconstruction and development. The case is the situation in post-tsunami Sri Lanka. The paper discusses the following questions: How does the issue of the post-tsunami reconstruction opportunity inform discourses on globalisation, the quest for democratising knowledge within organisations and the type of relief and development work organisations do? What are the most relevant discourses? To help clarify our thinking on these questions, a preliminary analytical framework aimed at bridging the knowledge-action gap was introduced.
