Artificial Intelligence has been of great interest in the healthcare domain where large amounts of data are available and its usage promises an improvement in providing state-of-the-art healthcare services. However, developing novel and relevant services requires close collaboration between medical and AI professionals. In this talk, I will present how we created AI-driven eHealth applications for patients and decision-support tools for clinicians that supplement today's care pathways. In particular, I will talk about the recently finished H2020 projects selfBACK (http://www.selfback.eu) and BACK-UP (http://backup-project.eu) as well as the ongoing project SupportPRIM (https://www.ntnu.no/supportprim). In all three projects, we are using Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) as the core methodology and I will argue that CBR helped us to increase the understanding of how to build AI-driven applications in healthcare that clinicians are able to understand.
