New Approaches to Geophysical Mapping of Palaeoenvironments of Coastal Archaeological Sites - The PastCoast Project

: The PastCoast project uses large-scale, high-resolution geophysical mapping of coastal archaeological sites known from metal detecting assemblages. One of the project's main aims is to evaluate how magnetometer- and ground-penetrating radar survey results can help characterise the sites from an archaeological and palaeoenvironmental perspective. The talk will give examples from investigations undertaken from sites in Denmark and Norway. We hope to stimulate a discussion on how to approach these datasets best and maximise the knowledge potential that lies herein.
