Small scale offshore CCS

CO2 capture by an onsite capturing plant and the subsequent storage of CO2 in a suitable storage site can in some cases be an alternative to electrification. Different from large CO2 storage projects involving several million tonnes stored annually, the CO2 formed at a single offshore production site amounts to at most a few hundred thousand tonnes per year. Thus, solutions optimal for large scale storage may not be the best for smaller amounts of CO2. The present work, which is a case study within SP7 of the LowEmission Centre, addresses various options for deposition of small amounts of CO2 captured from the gas turbine power plant on a single offshore petroleum production plant.
