The purpose of this essay is to highlight a one-day-a-week practice model for practice training in the context of nurse practitioners (NP).
Background: The essay emphasizes a model where NP has practice, one day a week to specialize in a subject that day, and the rest of the week with theory, guidance, and reflections at university.
Method: In the essay we use a study period at a university in San Francisco as a backdrop and to reflect on strengths and possible weaknesses with one day a week of practice and several weeks of combined practice.
Conclusions: We discuss what can provide the best learning. We have no clear conclusion but assume that a pilot study with one day a week of practice among NP could have been tried out in the one practice period.
